Plate Boundaries = Beautiful and Amazing Places

One of the best parts of teaching Geography 12 is telling travel stories, and showing pictures from adventures around the world. Geography is a wonderful subject because the course content connects to real-life places and features around us, and also opens our eyes to amazing new places we might not know about.

Today's lesson focused on reviewing the 4 major plate boundaries, plotting their locations around the world, and examining visuals that help bring the boundaries to life. What exactly does the Mid-Atlantic ridge look like up close? Why do so many people want to visit the East African Rift Valley? What does the 'roof of the world' - the Himalayas - look like, or the region of Patagonia in the Andes? The list goes on...

Today's Activities:

2. Tectonics Review Handout - Read and highlight key facts
3. Planet Earth Fun: Ocean Deep (Mid-Ocean Ridge); Mountains (Ethiopian lowlands/highlands)

Homework:
