We have spent the last three classes examining Plate Boundaries & the Interior of the Earth. You should be familiar with Chapters 1-3 in your Study Guide at the point. We also watched a portion of Planet Earth : Mountains, and are practising locating different tectonic features such as the Andes mountain range, in physical locations on our planet.
Part of the intention of this unit, is for you to be able to think about different places on the planet that you want to visit - like Hawaii, and be able to understand how this location was created.
Today, we briefly reviewed world locations of various mountain ranges, and discussed the ways in which mountain ranges are 'built' - the process of orogenesis (Chapter 4). We also began our study of our first natural hazard - Earthquakes (Chapter 8).
Handout for today's class. You are expected to have completed all the questions, and have the notes complete using Chapter 8 as a guide.
