Glaciers Part 3: Canada's North

In today's lesson we focused on reviewing glacial features, and examining some of the characteristics of the Arctic up close.  Last day we watched part of Planet Earth that showed scenes of Antarctica.  Today, we did the following:

  • Reviewed Key Glacial Features - review images are here on the Powerpoint
  • Examined images of Canada's North - discussed Ms. Sawatsky' road trip to Inuvik in the Yaris
We also did a brief examination of what it might be like to live in the Arctic.  In blocks 2 and 3, we read the article: Polar Bear Town: Churchill and we also watched 15 minutes of Human Planet - Arctic North.

Please ensure that you have read Chapter 13 in the Study Guide by now, and that you are able to briefly describe Canada's north in terms of Plants, Animals, Climate and People.

Next day we will be in the library and will be doing an in-class assignment that examines issues related to Melting Ice.  Meet you in the library - please bring your own device and headphones.
