Today's class focused on a review of our Groundwater test, a review on the important concepts related to the atmosphere (components + environmental issues), and an introduction to glaciers.
Here is the powerpoint that we examined today, including an explanation of:
- Types of glaciers
- Examples of alpine glaciers
- Local examples of glaciated landscapes along the sea to sky highway
- Ways that glaciers are created
- Ways that glaciers erode (abrasion + plucking)
We were also introduced to some of the features on an alpine glacier (ex. pyramidal peak, arrete, cirque, tarn).
As well as features of glaciation such as striations and glacial flour.
Note: we will have a quiz on Atmosphere and Glaciers next Wednesday, February 12th. Your summary 'cartoon' boxes of glacial features should be complete for next day if it wasn't completed today.
