ONLINE LESSON: INTRO TO GLACIERS

 Hello!

I hope that you are having a great day, and enjoying the sunshine.  Thanks for being flexible yesterday, and for accommodating the change in schedule.  Just a couple of updates:

  • Reminder - Alternate Assignment on Air Pollution is due Saturday
  • You must have watched the powerpoint lecture from Teams before you do any of the work today
  • You will have a quiz on the Atmosphere basics, Clouds, Orographic Precipitation and Glaciers on Monday/Tuesday.   Quiz outline will be posted tomorrow
ASSIGNMENT FOR TODAY:

PART 1 - The Facts - watch and take notes on the powerpoint - refer to Chapter 13 in your Study Guide if you have questions on the glacial features
2. Watch the following video clips and take notes
PART 2 - The Fun (hopefully!)

Google Earth Tour - go through the following Tour that Ms. Sawatsky has created for you.
  • Ensure that you are reading the text boxes for each location
  • Looking at the different photos
  • Moving the locations and maps around to check out the different places
Here is the tour!  Click on the link to get started.  Glaciers of the World
  • Once the tour opens, click on PRESENT! Or the Play button, then there should be 8 locations for you to take a look at.
Now, its your turn.  On your own, or with a partner, create a Glacier Tour using Google Earth.  Here is the assignment criteria.

I have started doing a practice Tour on the Khumbu Glacier (located by Mount Everest), you can check it out here to get some ideas.  Note, its very much a draft, I was just playing around
