Water: From Source to Sea

Today we are beginning a new unit, exploring water in all of its forms, from source to sea. This unit will examine:

  • Water Issues facing humans and our planet (ex. Day Zero, Virtual Water, Pollution, Health risks)
  • Atmosphere, Water Cycle + Clouds
  • Glaciers + Melting ice
  • Rivers & Running Water
  • Ocean Ecosystems (ex. coral reefs) and issues facing oceans (plastics, overfishing)
Your topic today is to explore some of the issues facing us today, in the 21st century.  When we think of 'water wars' and water shortages, what exactly does that mean?  When we think of fact that our water resources are unstable, then what are the social and economic implications for places that don't have running water?

You will do a couple of small assignments for this unit, as well as a larger presentation on an Issue related to this unit (ex. Water use + Diet), or on a Beautiful Location (ex. Torres Del Paine Glacier).

ONLINE ASSIGNMENT TODAY - Please ensure that you have completed the Water Issues Intro Assignment.  You do not need to print it out.  Please write your answers on paper, or bring a digital copy of your assignment for me to see next class.

Here are the videos and articles that you will need to watch, just in case the links aren't working for you:

Have a great day!

NOTE - We will be splitting class on Tuesday (Group 2 - 12:15-1:15) and Group 1 - 1:20-2:25.
