Tectonics Quest Outline

Hi folks,

In advance of our Quest next week, I'd like to post our Outline for studying, as well as some resources that can help you study, in addition to the posts that are already published.

Key Topic to Study:

  • Interior of the Earth
  • Plate Boundaries
  • Features and Landforms created at Plate Boundaries and Hot Spots
  • World Map of Locations
  • Volcanoes and Volcanism (geysers, hot springs, etc.)
  • Difference between shield and composite volcanoes and where they are located
  • Be able to identify and explain key diagrams of tectonic processes (ex. folding, plate boundaries, trenches, etc.)
  • A few historical case studies - ex. Pompeii; and a few contemporary locations - ex. Iceland, etc.
Here is the Quest Outline for both classes.  You are allowed a cheat sheet - maximum size 11x14.  You may use both sides.  It must be handwritten.  You can include anything (written, drawings, etc.) You will hand it in when you write the test and it will be collected.

Study Guide Chapter - 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 - Volcanism section does not include intrusive features like batholiths, laccoliths, etc.
