Biosphere - Final Project Options

Forest Bathing on Haida Gwa'ii, B.C.

We have reached the last week of the course, and our final study of Geography 12 is complete.  So sad!  As part of your last assignment, I have designed several options for you to consider.  Each of these are normally part of our Geography course, but in the shortened Quarter System, we don't have time to complete them all.... so you choose what fits your interests right now!

OPTION 1: Befriend a Tree  (INDIVIDUAL) + Resource for Reference by Claudia

We have played around with this option through our Scavenger Hunts and Nature Walks in class. Feel free to use this same tree OR choose one that is closer to your house.  For this option, you must be able to visit your tree AT LEAST 4 TIMES before next Monday.

OPTION 2: Fragile Ecosystem or Species Research Assignment  (IND. OR GROUP)

This option is a research assignment - you choose the topic, and you put together the 'story' of your location or species.  Criteria is attached to the assignment outline.

OPTION 3: Tropical Rainforest Case Studies - Orangutans & Mountain Gorillas (INDIVIDUAL)

This option is a research assignment on two Case Studies.  The sources have already been found for you, and you will answer the questions attached.  Both case studies must be completed

OPTION 4: Design your own Field Experience (INDIVIDUAL OR PARTNER)

For this option, you will create a Field Experience... and actually go on it.  This should be a local walk or hike that you are able to do easily and safely, while being socially distanced.  Your parent/guardians should be in approval of this choice, as it will be done outside of class time on your own time.

NOT INTERESTED IN ANY OF THESE OPTIONS?  Then come see Ms. Sawatsky for a different topic/option related to the Biosphere.

Assignments are due Friday, January 29th (Option 2/3) or Monday, Feb. 1 (Options 1/4).
