Our second unit of study is Tectonic forces. Tectonic forces are powered by convection currents in the earth's mantle, and are responsible for some of the most dramatic landscapes on our planet. Hot springs, rift valleys, volcanoes and mountain ranges are created by tectonic forces. Here are some of the handouts and powerpoints that we've used so far this unit.
At this point in the unit (October 4th), you should have read and be familiar with Chapters 1, 2 and 3 in your Study Guide. Chapter 3 is very important, as it describes all of the plate boundaries.
HANDOUTS:
Lesson 1 - Intro Lesson - This Earth Questions
Lesson 2 - Interior of the Earth & Plate Boundary Diagrams
Lesson 3 - Oreo Cookie Lab & Boundaries
Lesson 5 - Plate Boundary Practice Quiz
POWERPOINTS:
