Congrats on the completion of all Term 1 work. This is a cumulative class, so our assessments in Term 1 are directly connected to our future work, but this is a snapshot as to how you are doing right now in the course.
- What's gone well for you so far this term?
- What have been some of the struggles that you have experienced?
So far, we have examined the big ideas of geography, explored the notion of spatial analysis, played around with new technologies like Google Tour Creator, and studied Tectonic forces in detail. We have briefly examined some elements of human geography through our study of 'Unnatural Disasters', and are now beginning our unit on Gradational forces. We have completed our study of Mass Movement, and the landscapes created by gravity, and are moving on to the study of Groundwater, and Karst landscapes.
Today's lesson:
1. Finished cave/mass wasting presentations - excellent work! They were very well done.
2. Explored the basics of Karst landscapes, and most notably, examining what Karst landscapes look like above the ground.
3. Watched some video clips of caves, including the Waitomo glow worm caves in New Zealand, and the caves in Borneo. We watched Planet Earth, Episode - Caves.
Here is the handout from today, and the powerpoint.
