Last day we were introduced to the idea of 'groundwater', and also the idea of Water Scarcity. We looked at the water cycle in general, explored what aquifers were and why they are useful, and looked at the case study of Virtual Water - the water that is part of the goods, food, and other sources that we consume.
For today's activity, you will present one HOT TOPIC that is related to groundwater or water scarcity. The majority of these are global issues, to help give us a greater understanding of what life is like in other parts of the world.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Read the resources that links to
your topic. Identify questions and gaps
in knowledge that you have – google those and fill in the info that you need to
have a basic understanding. You will present the following to the class:
1. 1. Summarize: What is the issue all about? (Who, What, Where, When) + overview of problem
3. 2. Connect: Connect your concept of groundwater AND/OR water scarcity
4. 3. Significance: Why should we care about this issue?
How does it affect us? How does
it affect the world? How does it connect
to broader issues like climate change, migration patterns, etc. ?
